Sharlon Najjuma
Sponsor Me For:
Uganda
DOB: 04/23/2004
Female
Good Health
Favorite Subject: English
Favorite Pastime: Dancing

Sharlon was sponsored for eight years but sadly her sponsor was unable to help her complete her education. Without a new sponsorship, she will not be able to finish school.

Sharlon’s father died when she was 8 years old. Her parents were very poor already but on her own her mother had an extremely difficult time providing for their basic needs. She ultimately left Sharlon with her grandmother because she couldn’t even afford food for her. They live very far from day schools now so Sharlon really needs to go to boarding school where she can be well fed and sheltered.

Sharlon is very hopeful that after she completes her education, she can come back and minister to her community as a pediatrician. She enjoys reading novels and studying group dancing.

To help Sharlon go to boarding school, she will need $150/month from one sponsor, or $75/month from two sponsors.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
