Ritah Nanjego
Sponsor Me For:
Uganda
DOB: 11/19/2006
Female
Good Health
Favorite Subject: English
Favorite Pastime: Dancing

When Ritah's father ran away and neglected the family, he left Ritah with her mother and her five siblings. He has not returned even to visit and they don't expect to ever see him again.

Ritah's mother is a peasant and supports herself and her children by digging in other people's gardens to get food and sometimes a little extra to sell. Occasionally, the people she works for give her clothes for her children and that helps a lot.

Sadly, on her own, Ritah's mother is unable to support Ritah and the siblings in anything more than just providing them with some food. Without sponsorship, Ritah will not have proper supervision, secure daily food, and will certainly not get an education. She is in need of full-time care at a boarding school.

Ritah is a very bright girl who loved going to school when she had the chance to. Her favorite subject was English because she loved to read. Since she has not been in school for very long, she has not yet finished her primary level education.

To help Ritah go to Stella Maris boarding school, she will need $90/month from one sponsor, or $45/month from two sponsors.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the “Pearl of Africa”, Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
