This child lives with his mother at the mother's ancestoral home after being abandoned the father who left them when Joshua was about a year and when the mother had had remained alone, she got another man (Joshua's stepdad) who lived with them for 4 years and he too abandoned them (Joshua, mother and 2 siblings) though after about a year when they were almost starving, this man came for his two children and left Joshua and his mother. These two became homeless after chasing them out of the room they were living in and the mom decided to go back to her family where they found only the grandmother (RIP) who unfortunately died too.
These two are struggling to survive and the mother does some petty jobs at neighborhoods to get food but not able to get money for Joshua's education.
Joshua is a clever boy and a certain school offered him an opportunity to learn primary level for free and he performed well, now he finished primary level but unable to join secondary level.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
