Janat’s father left home one day and never returned. Her mother does her best to support her four children by working in other people’s gardens. In order to earn enough money, she has to travel to different villages seeking work, leaving Janat and her siblings at home alone. Janat is an excellent performer who can become a great Secondary Teacher if she gets a chance of completing her education but unfortunately, she can not go to school now as the mother is not able to take her to school after a big date developed at school for previous schools she was left to attend classes with hope from the mother but not able to get money.

While Janat’s mother tries her best to provide, their situation is very unstable and she needs to be sponsored for boarding school so that she can be safe and well-cared for. Her mother has tried to keep her in school but she is always forced to drop out due to lack of money.

Janat is very energetic and loves to run! She also enjoys reading the Bible aloud to other children, and dreams of becoming a nurse when she grows up if she is able to finish her education.

To help Janat go to boarding school, she will need $150/month from one sponsor, or $75/month from two sponsors.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
