Kevin Daniel has recently lost his sponsor of the past 12 years - he has been sponsored through CARITAS since he was in Primary Level 2. He now has only 3 years left to finish secondary school but has been forced to drop out due to the loss of his sponsor. He desperately needs a new one to continue because his father cannot support him in school.

Kevin Daniel's early life was marked by tragedy. His mother died when he was young due to HIV/AIDS, leaving behind four children. One day, when Kevin Daniel was coming home from school, he was hit in the eye by a broken particle from a mowing machine by the side of the road. He underwent several operations to save his eye but unfortunately they were not successful.

After the loss of his eye, Kevin Daniel's father decided he didn't need to go back to school since he thought he would not be able to read and write again. He even abandoned Kevin Daniel in the village, and he is being taken care of by an aunt. His father (who also suffers from the same disease that took his mother) has succumbed to frustrations of his circumstances and poverty, and has become an alcoholic who does not care for his family.

Kevin Daniel is 17 years old now, and has been able to receive a proper education thanks to sponsorship through CARITAS. He was born into an Anglican family, but when he grew older he requested baptism into the Catholic Church! He chose the name Kevin after Servant of God Mother Kevin, to whose intercession he attributes his rescue by a good samaritan after his father abandoned him. This person brought him to CARITAS and he was then able to get sponsored, and his life began to change for the better.

Kevin Daniel has been committed in his studies and has desired ever since his mother's death to become a medical doctor so that he can tend to people with disabilities and treat people living with HIV/AIDs in his village. He also hopes that when he finishes his studies and graduates, he will be in position to get a well-paying job so that he can take proper care of his family - even his father.

To help Kevin Daniel go to boarding school, he needs $120/month from one sponsor or $60/month from two sponsors.

About my country:
Uganda
Known as the “Pearl of Africa”, Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
