Help Decrease Poverty
Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education and clean water. Sponsor a Ugandan Child
Our Ministry in Central Uganda
Known as the “Pearl of Africa”, Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Bordered by Kenya to the west, Democratic Republic of Congo to the east, Rwanda to the south, and war torn Sudan to the north, Uganda is at the center of a diverse region. It is estimated that 48% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 15, many of them orphaned by AIDS and in need of help.
In central Uganda, CARITAS For Children’s ministry is supported by the local Catholic Church. The Department of Catholic Education runs schools and hospitals throughout East Africa and have acquired a reputation for providing high quality education and medical care to communities in need. CARITAS For Children is privileged to work with the local Catholic institutions, including schools, parishes, hospitals and others, who are widely loved and respected, in providing resources for the impoverished people of East Africa.
