Marvis Espinoza
Belize
DOB: 06/15/2010
Male
Good Health
Favorite Subject: Math
Favorite Pastime: Not known

Marvis lives with his single mom and six siblings. His mother does her best to provide for her children but she doesn’t have a fulltime job. She does some cleaning on the weekends to earn some money for their family. It’s a day-to-day struggle to cover their basic needs, especially school fees for so many children.

Marvis is concerned about the difficult situation his mother is in. If he is sponsored, he knows his mom won’t have to worry about how she will pay his school fees. “This is always a burden to her and I really don’t like to see her worrying. This assistance will help my mom because she needs help in sending her younger children to school.”

Marvis has a plan for his future if he is able to finish his education: “I want to become a Civil Engineer. In order for me to accomplish this dream, I’ll continue to study hard, graduate from primary school with honors so that I can get a scholarship to attend St. John’s College. I will also graduate from St. John’s College with honors.”

About my community:
Our Lady of Guadalupe (Belize City)
In this Diocese, there is a Co-Cathedral in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and she is now the patron saint of our CARITAS program in Belize. Sponsors and children will be asking for her intercession asking that more poor children in the diocese can find a sponsor.
About my country:
Belize
Belize is a Caribbean country on the northeastern coast of Central America bordering Mexico and Guatemala. English is the official language, while Creole and Spanish are also very common. Belize’s population is ethnically diverse as refugees from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador began migrating to Belize in the 1980s to escape civil war and political unrest in their countries. This has added significantly to the poverty that is found on the mainland.
