Gabdiella has grown up without a father, who passed away when she was only two years old due to unknown causes. Since this tragic event, she has lived with her mother, who has struggled to adjust to life as a single parent. The loss of her husband has left Gabdiella's mother traumatized and unable to manage their household effectively, often resulting in the family missing meals due to insufficient food.

They reside near a government school, where Gabdiella is enrolled. However, her attendance is sporadic because her mother cannot consistently provide for the necessary school requirements. The instability at home directly impacts Gabdiella's education, as she struggles to maintain regular attendance.

Despite these challenges, Gabdiella is eager to pursue her education with the hope of becoming a nurse. Consistent support and assistance would ensure that she can attend school regularly, meet all educational requirements, and work towards her future career. Helping Gabdiella could significantly change her circumstances, offering her a pathway out of the cycle of poverty and instability.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
