Elvis has been living with his mother since his father passed away a few years ago. His mother, doing her best to support him, runs a small street food stall where she sells bananas, onions, tomatoes, and bitter berries. Despite her efforts, the small scale of her business means that the income generated is often insufficient to cover all their needs. While she manages to scrape together enough for basic household essentials, she struggles to pay for Elvis's school fees.

This financial challenge has put Elvis's educational future at risk. He is a bright and promising student, deeply invested in his studies, with aspirations of becoming a doctor. However, the irregular payment of his school fees often interrupts his learning process, making it difficult for him to maintain steady academic progress.

Elvis's mother is seeking assistance to ensure her son can continue his education without disruption. With the right support, Elvis has the potential to excel academically and achieve his dream of entering the medical profession, but he needs help to overcome the financial barriers that stand in his way.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
