Margaret has grown up with her mother, as her father left while her mother was still pregnant, and his whereabouts remain unknown. He had mentioned that he was going to seek employment in South Sudan but never returned.

Margaret's mother is a primary school teacher, but her monthly salary is just enough to cover the basic household needs, leaving Margaret's own needs unmet. Nevertheless, her mother has been determined to keep Margaret in school, negotiating with the headteacher to arrange for her education. On occasion, these negotiations fall through, and her mother has to resort to alternative methods, such as collecting firewood for the school or working in the school gardens after official school hours, in order to pay Margaret's school fees.

Despite the challenges, Margaret is a brilliant student, showing great potential. Her dream is to become a doctor, a testament to her determination and ambition. With the right assistance and support, Margaret can pursue her education and work towards fulfilling her dream. By providing financial aid and resources, we can ensure that Margaret's educational journey remains uninterrupted, enabling her to achieve her goal of becoming a doctor and making a positive impact in her community through compassionate healthcare.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
